I became a writer to escape my reality. I felt like a failure as a wife and mother.  But most importantly, I felt alone. But writing was my way of feeling connected. This journey into motherhood has been difficult, facing battles with infertility with multiple miscarriages and postpartum depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, and post-traumatic stress disorder. These stories became therapeutic and cathartic by representing realistic portrayals of life as a parent with mental illness. In this place of darkness, words bring a lightness that has been hidden by shame.

Mental illness strips away the ability to see the radiant power within us. It can take away the capacity to know the worth of life. We are forces of endurance, beacon of possibilities, temple of courage, collection of stories, moments worth holding, warrior of resurrection, and above all else, worthy of being.

My stories may be raw, but they are honest.

I’ve been included in two anthologies:
Motherhood May Cause Drowsiness: Funny Stories by Sleepy Moms
Motherhood May Cause Drowsiness: Mom Stories from the Trenches: A Second Edition

My writing has been featured on:
TODAY Parenting Team, The Mighty, Reality Moms, TODAY Parents, Mock Mom, Momtastic, Sammies & Psych Meds, BLUNTmoms, Housewife Plus, and Bagnor Daily News.

I’m not ashamed of my mental illness nor my struggles in life. I believe that by writing my truth, the stigma attached to mental health sheds; story by story.
